Originally from London, England, I have lived in the United States since 1982. I have taught ESOL for more than ten years and hold a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics/TESOL.
I love helping students learn English at the Library. Many will make great progress over the 10 weeks we spend together. And I could not be more proud of them.
The main thing I stress to students is the need to TALK! We spend about 20-30 minutes of each week doing just this in our "LET'S TALK" session. I also ask students to get together with 2-3 of their classmates to talk to each other outside class. Grab a coffee, go for a walk, talk on the phone or through Skype. Speaking English for a couple of hours a day will give you a head start with English. BEST OF LUCK!
Any questions, comments, suggestions or ideas, please talk to me or email me at: christophermilson@nypl.org.
